The New Arc by Antonio Pio Saracino, selected through a public competition by the Newark EDC, is conceived as an iconic landmark for Mulberry Commons and a civic gateway for Newark. Inspired by the universal symbolism of the arch, the work transforms a timeless form into a contemporary gesture of openness, ascent, and optimism. Its rising stainless steel bands create a powerful sense of movement and passage, framing the sky and marking the space as both threshold and destination. More than a monument, The New Arc stands as a symbol of renewal and forward vision—an invitation to move beyond the familiar toward possibility, progress, and the future.
