The Ray Sofa by Antonio Pio Saracino has been acquired for the permanent collection of the Museum of Arts and Design in New York. The work explores natural structural systems translated into design through a cellular assembly of rubber foam strips coated with an elastic polymer skin. Though gem-like in appearance, the sofa is soft and comfortable, and from above evokes pixel compositions and crystalline formations.
